Change by Vote, Not by Violence

Broward County Young Republicans

May 22, 2012

This week, federal officials stopped a horrible act of domestic terrorism against President Obama and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel during a NATO summit.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a group by the name of the “NATO 3” plotted attacks on the Obama election headquarters, Mayor Emanuel’s home, and area police stations using Molotov Cocktails.

Two of the three men involved in the domestic terror plot were young men from Broward County, compelling Broward County Young Republicans to speak up against such dastardly political acts.  Brian Church, 22, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Jared Chase, 27, of Keene, N.H.; and Brent Vincent Betterly, 24 of Oakland Park, Fla. were members of the Black Bloc as well as the Occupy movement in Fort Lauderdale.  Both are generally accepted as left-wing activist groups.

An attack of this type is an attack on America.  If young people want to send President Obama and his allies a message, they can do it at the ballot box this November.  That’s how change works in a democracy.
